Description
We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Traveling Construction Superintendent oversee construction at project sites throughout the United States, with periodic reporting to the company's West Coast office in San Diego. This role includes a hybrid of site supervision, quality control management, and safety enforcement.
Prior experience in on-site supervision of public sector projects required -- i.e. federal facilities, government buildings, military sites. Projects are typically in the $1 million to $30 million range and may involve new construction, renovations, historic preservation, and LEED green building certification.
Long term travel is required for the position. Candidates must be available to stay at out-of-state job sites for the duration of the project. Housing and transportation are provided at the job site, along with a stipend for periodic travel.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Daily field supervision of construction projects ranging from $1 million - $30 million
- Enforcement of EM385-1-1 and OSHA safety standards
- Manage workers and subcontractors to execute projects to plans and specifications
- Manage onsite relations with owners and site occupants
- Write daily reports and control all job site activities
- Communicate progress with Project Manager daily
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience supervising construction projects in the field on a daily basis
- Ability to be stationed at out-of-state project sites
- Passion for safety and the enforcement of such on construction project sites
- Effective communication skills accompanied by positive, self-confident, and assertive attitude
- Satisfactory background check and drug testing
Preferred
- College education in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
- OSHA safety training
- US Army Corps of Engineers Quality Control Management certification
- EM385 Site Safety and Health Officer certification
