Essential Functions





The Security Officer (Dispatcher) is responsible for ensuring that police and security information is properly disseminated according to police department protocol; obtaining and relaying information; and assessing incident reports and other information to determine trends.
The incumbent logs security and police information and via telephone or radio relays data to University Police officers and staff as needed.

Due to the 24/7 nature of this position, overtime is an essential function with the requirement to work on short notice.


This position is considered an essential personnel position.


Use a wide range of radio and telephone communication skills, interact with Police Officers, students, staff, visitors and the general public using a variety of interpersonal skills.
Dispatch radio communications with Police Officers as necessary and in accordance to established procedures.
Monitor, respond, and reset fire and security alarms.
Monitor and operate security camera equipment.
Monitor police and security officers’ activity via two-way radio and provide support as needed.
Receive and log information concerning all monitored activities and maintain relevant files.
Issue parking permits, and respond to questions pertaining to parking issues.
Perform other security officer work as needed.
Utilize computer program to obtain vehicle and vehicle operator information.
Log and issue keys to various personnel.
Process parking tickets.
Assign and log battery booster and other police equipment.
Call police and security officers for overtime assignments as needed and contact other campus personnel (tradesmen, custodians, etc.) to make emergency repairs or remove snow/debris, etc.
Provide administrative assistance to sign in and check out personal weapons brought to the office by students, staff, and visitors.
Perform traffic control duties.
Perform event security duties.
Interact with walk-in customers.
Adheres to Lock Haven University Police Department Rules , Regulations and Procedures.

Valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operators License


Possession of high school diploma or equivalent.
