Job DescriptionJob DescriptionpLocal nonprofit organization that is focused on improving the strongoverall health/strong and strongwellness/strong of underprivileged teens seeks Executive Director to help advance its mission of serving economically disadvantaged children in Macomb County. /ppThe Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the organization#39;s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives, strategic planning, and community outreach./ppstrongSpecific Committee Responsibilities:/strong/polliAssure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress./liliProvide leadership in developing programs, enhancing the Project Transformation program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff and carry out strategic plans and policies authorized by the board./liliPromote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization#39;s work./liliMaintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations./liliMaintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field./liliOversees and implements resources to ensure that the organization’s operations are efficient and appropriate./li/olpstrongIn communications, the Executive Director will:/strong/polliSee that the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all-important factors influencing it./liliPublicize the activities of the organization, its programs, and goals./liliEstablish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations./liliRepresent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the public./li/olpstrongIn relations with staff, the Executive Director will:/strong/polliBe responsible for the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers./liliEnsure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are held, and that sound human resource practices are in place./liliSee that an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession, is in place./liliEncourage staff and volunteer development and education and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization./liliMaintain a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality people./liliWorks with the Board and Staff, Consultants, Committee Members, and Volunteers to ensure the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach./li/olpstrongIn budget and finance, the Executive Director will:/strong/polliBe responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices and forecasting, budgets, and maintain a positive financial position./liliWork with the staff, Finance Committee, and the board in preparing a budget; see that the organization operates within budget guidelines./liliEnsure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work and hold events to fundraise./liliCultivates existing donor resources and develops new resources and funding opportunities sufficient to ensure the organization’s financial health. /liliJointly, with the president and secretary of the board of directors, conduct official correspondence of the organization, and jointly, with designated officers, execute legal documents./li/olpstrongExecutive Director Qualifications:/strong/pulliSenior nonprofit management experience, including overseeing and collaborating with staff members./liliSolid, hands-on budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting./liliStrong organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation./liliKnowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector./liliAbility to listen, communicate and collaborate effectively with Board members, Committee members, volunteers, and others./liliStrong written, oral communication, and public speaking skills./liliProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other organizational systems./liliAbility to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups./liliDemonstrated ability to seek out and write grant applications and win such proposals./liliBachelor#39;s degree or equivalent; Master#39;s degree in a related field is preferred./li/ul
