Clausen House is seeking a talented and experienced Residential Administrator to oversee three residential group homes. Clausen House serves clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We are seeking an experienced senior managerial applicant with personnel management experience, managing staff, staffing schedules, hiring staff, and training staff. We are looking for an applicant with experience working with clients with IDD within a residential setting. We are seeking applicants who are experienced working with local regional centers. We are seeking applicants who are familiar with community care licensing (CCL), Alameda County Public Health, and Dept of Developmental Services (DDS) safety requirements and standards.
Requirements:
- Current holder of ARF certification or possess the ability to earn an ARF certification within 90 days of start of employment.
- Direct overall residential services in all 3 residential homes for intellectual and developmentally disabled adults.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the physical and emotional well-being of clients residing in their homes.
Maintain current ISP and POS for all clients. Schedule and facilitate all ISP, IDT and quarterly/semi-annual meetings.
Direct Residential Personal Attendants to ensure that IPP goals are being met and Clausen House policies and procedures are complied with.
- Maintain regular communication with Clausen House staff, client’s family members, case managers and other involved parties.
- Responsible for census development to meet the standard census of the home.
- Perform assessments of new referrals to determine appropriateness, if accepted, complete required forms and initiate placement procedures.
- Interview, hire, train, supervise and evaluate Residential staff.
- Arrange for professional development of staff.
- Facilitate monthly staff and client meetings.
- Submit reports to the Director of Program Services and regulatory bodies, as required.
- Participate in Clausen House’s management team and other committees, as required.
- Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of developmental disabilities.
- Ensure policies, procedures and practices follow Community Care Licensing and Department of Developmental Services regulations.
- Implementation of regulatory changes that are mandated by Clausen House, Department of Developmental Services, community Care Licensing and other entities such as Alameda Public Health, Home and Community Based Services, Employment First and other regulatory directives and/or mandates as needed.
- Monitor and manage controllable expenses such as overtime, telephone and house supplies.
- Assist clients with banking and budgeting needs.
- Serve as on-call residential supervisor for other residences as needed.
- Provide transportation and/or transportation coordination for clients.
- Oversee the health needs of residents and follow-up with client needs, facilitate clients MD appointments, physician’s recommendations, pharmacies need, appropriate family members as needed.
- Monitor the physical environment of the assigned house with regard to safety, maintenance and sanitation and ensure that these areas are addressed in a satisfactory manner.
- Monitor, manage, and participate in all QA and CCL site visits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications /Specialized Training:
Bachelor of Art/Science in Special Education, Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years experience in a human services related field, preferably working with people with developmental disabilities and/or special needs. Preferably adults.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Residential Administrators Certification within the 1st year of employment.
- Knowledge of current practices and trends in the field of developmental disabilities.
- Demonstrate supervisory and administrative experience combined with knowledge of principles of staff development and motivating others.
- Ability to work a flexible schedulePossession of a valid California Driver’s license (with safe driving record). With the ability to drive clients to appointments, etc.
- Possession of sufficient physical stamina to assist clients with activities of daily living.
- Able to communicate, both in writing and verbally, in a clear, concise manner.
- Criminal record clearance.
- Obtain and maintain current First Aid and CPR certificates.
